Shay Wright

Co Founder at Te Whare Hukahuka

Shay is a social entrepreneur, named in the Forbes Asia ‘30 Under 30’ Social Entrepreneurs and a finalist for Young New Zealander of the Year 2019. Passionate about education, rural development & Māori empowerment, Shay is a co-founder of the indigenous innovation and training enterprise, Te Whare Hukahuka. Their vision is to impact the lives of 10M indigenous people.

Shay has spoken at conferences around the world, is a founding board member of Teach First NZ, sits on several advisory boards and is writing a book to help aspiring social entrepreneurs. He has combined experience in entrepreneurship, education, Māori development and community economics to help shape Te Whare Hukahuka.

Education Manager at MYOB

Shailan is passionate about helping students catapult from the education sector into meaningful employment. His career has been diverse, having worked in sales and advertising for NZ’s largest media companies, and he is now leading the education channel for MYOB. He’s working young entrepreneurs, and helping students to see the growing opportunities in a career in tech.

CEO/Co-Founder at Niesh

James is a high school drop out turned entrepreneur. Three years ago, he started Niesh as a passion project to help inspire students to reach their full potential. A social enterprise that aims to improve the student experience, Niesh is now the largest student platform in New Zealand with further to go.

Vaughan Fergusson is the founder of Vend. He was EY's Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014 and is the co-founder of The Pam Fergusson Charitable Trust running initiatives to transform education like OMGTech!, Voluntari.ly and inawe.co.nz setting up an enviro-tech centre in the middle of the bush in Raglan.

Alix Klingenberg

Alix is a software developer at Auror, a retail crime intelligence platform that helps report, solve and prevent crime in stores. Used by major retailers such Biscoes, farmers and Z the software this project was developed to use technology to tackle the problem of retail crime by helping retailers and police report, stop and crime.

Fraser Bliss

Ooooby

Fraser is an entrepreneur, technologist, creator of the Farmwell e-commerce platform and co-runs Ooooby NZ. He has managed technical teams at Workday (#2 Most Innovative Company in the World) and has been the manager of Bill Mollison’s permaculture farm in Australia.

Kate Thompson

KiwiRail

Kate Thompson specialises in the 'social' aspect of corporate sustainability. She is currently KiwiRail's Community Engagement Manager & worked in a similar role for Auckland Airport before this. Her work involves helping businesses be a 'good neighbour' to local and national communities, by creating programmes which deliver business & community benefits.

Annabell Chartres

Management Consulting Director at PwC

Annabell is a passionate advocate for sustainable business practices. She has led development of the sustainability and climate change services strategy for PwC in the China market. She was recently appointed to the board of the New Zealand chapter of The Hunger Project, an international charity focused on empowering communities across Africa and Asia, to end hunger and poverty.

Klara Klippel

Business Graduate at Fonterra

Klara was drawn to inciting real change on a large scale due to Fonterra’s influence in the dairy industry and New Zealand’s environment. She joined Fonterra’s sustainability and marketing teams where she assisted in setting sustainability targets, holding business units accountable and producing their 2018 Sustainability Report.

Katharine Broughton

Katharine is a commercially astute and innovative senior leader with an extensive career leading business and marketing communication strategy for local and global brands. Katharine lead the team that won the Marketing, Innovation and Supreme Awards at the Westpac Business Awards 2016 for Eat My Lunch; Directing the PR and secured over $2m in media.

Anna Lim

Christopher Hayes

Consultant at EY

Inspired to create social impact in the marketplace, Christopher joined EY Advisory to help organisations navigate the complexities of today and work better using innovations in technology and best practices. He has worked with clients in telecommunications, healthcare and consumer goods on cost and digital transformation projects across New Zealand and Asia.

Vernon Tava

Business Broker with Divest Business Sales

Vernon was a Research Fellow at the New Zealand Centre for Environmental Law from 2009 to 2011 including co-editing ‘Water Rights and Sustainability’, volume 3 of the NZCEL monograph series. He has been an elected member of the Waitematā Local Board of Auckland Council since 2013 and is certified as a Resource Management Act Independent Commissioner.

Kitty Lin

Founder of Green Time

Kitty Lin, a former Associate at Simpson Grierson, made a life-changing decision after attending a Climate Change Conference in October 2015 while still a lawyer. She is now the “brains” behind Green Time, a Sustainable Vegan Eatery established May 2016.

Chlöe Swarbrick

MP for the Green Party

Chlöe is a Green Party MP, and Aotearoa’s youngest MP in 40 years. She brings to parliament her experience as a policy wonk, journalist, business owner and a community project leader. She is focused on opening up parliament and politics to all New Zealanders, so they can see themselves in it and take part in making Aotearoa a great place for everyone.

Seymour

ACT Party MP for Epsom

David first contested for ACT as an MP in 2005. He successfully won a seat in the parliament in the 2014 elections and became the leader of the party the same year. David classifies himself as an economic conservative and a social liberal, believing that the government should act as a “safety net” in difficult times but shouldn’t create dependence or seek to impose its own ‘vision’ on others.

Michael Wood

Labour Party MP for Mt. Roskill

Michael has spent many years working at the grassroots level in Mt Roskill, driven by the core belief that people do well when living in strong, fair, and supportive communities. Through his work in various organisations, Michael has developed a strong view that if we get the basics right — good jobs with fair wages, decent housing, and a strong public education system — we’ll solve many other social issues.

Dan Bidois

National Party MP for Northcote

Dan is the National MP for Northcote and Spokesperson for the Future of Work.  He is a former OECD economist, business executive, strategy consultant, and a qualified butcher.  Dan holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard as a Fulbright Scholar, and a BA/BCom (Hons) from the University of Auckland.

Agnes Loheni

MP for the National Party

Agnes Loheni is an MP in the House of Representatives for the New Zealand National Party. She is born and educated in Auckland, holding a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemicals and Materials from the University of Auckland.  Alongside being a politician and raising a family, Agnes is also an accomplished entrepreneur, as the owner of the Pacific fashion brand MENA.

Jamie Newth

Dr Jamie Newth is a lecturer at the University of Auckland Business School where his research focuses on social innovation and social entrepreneurship. He is also the founder of the impact investment company Soul Capital, and sits on the board of Social Enterprise Auckland.
